Minister Basuki Makes Sure Trans Sumatra Toll Road Ready For Eid Homecoming

JAKARTADAILY.ID — Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono inspected the Trans Sumatra Toll Road section of the Lampung to Palembang.The review was carried out to ensure that repairs to the toll road that were damaged went well to support the smooth flow of Lebaran 2022 homecoming.

The toll roads that were damaged were the Terbanggi Besar – Pematang Panggang – Kayu Agung sections in Lampung Province and some sections of the Kayu Agung – Palembang – Betung (Kalbetung)

Minister Basuki said that there were three priority work carried out in repairing the Lampung – Palembang toll road. The first priority is the improvement of road materials caused by the declining quality of the concrete.

Second, repairing roads that have cracks and declines, because they are still passable, will be repaired after Eid al-Fitr to avoid traffic jams during Lebaran homecoming.

“The third priority is repairing roads that are covered with concrete glue. Indeed, this condition does not only coincide with the homecoming flow, but also becomes the main road for the community, especially for transportation movements and supporting the economy,” said Minister Basuki.

The 376 km Bakauheni – Terbanggi Besar – Pematang Panggang – Kayu Agung to Kramasan – Palembang toll road section has been operating since March 2019.

The construction of this toll road aims to improve connectivity between Lampung and South Sumatra.

Several segments of this road were damaged and gradually reconditioning and reconstruction were carried out including repairing new pavement layers, re-casting with fast setting concrete, laying the pavement using asphalt finisher and compacting it, and the new AC-WC layer being spread with asphalt finisher and compacted.

The Ministry of PUPR through PT Hutama Karya as the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) of the Bakauheni – Terbanggi Besar section of the 140.4 km long has carried out repairs with 100% progress.

For the 189.4 km Terbanggi Besar – Pematang Panggang – Kayu Agung toll road section, damage repairs have been carried out with a progress of 90%, and will be completely completed in H-10.

Furthermore, the BUJT PT Waskita Sriwijaya Toll Road handling the 37.6 km Kayu Agung – Palembang – Bentung section has repaired several points including KM355+950 and KM349+900.

Minister Basuki conveyed that the entire Bakauheni Lampung to Palembang toll road section is ready to support the smooth flow of Lebaran 2022 homecoming on the island of Sumatra.

 “Currently, functionally from point zero to KM252 it is good, ready to be used for Lebaran homecoming. The rest are still being repaired until D-10 Lebaran,” said Minister Basuki.
